The Russian Arctic Zone residents' standards of responsibility for relations with indigenous peoples was approved by a decree of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Federation in accordance with Article 28 of Federal Law No. 193-FZ of 13 July 2020 'On State Support for Entrepreneurial Activity in the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation.' The standards of responsibility refer to a list of principles recommended for use by Arctic Zone residents in interacting with small-numbered indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation in the areas of their traditional residence and traditional economic activities.
Northern Star was the first resident company in the Arctic Zone to adopt standards of responsibility when interacting with indigenous peoples. This document approves the company's policy on engagement with the indigenous peoples, a code of conduct for employees, and provisions on the procedure for providing feedback to indigenous peoples.
